The challenge
Northlight's old website buried beautiful work under long paragraphs and slow galleries. The studio wanted a site that felt as calm and considered as their buildings, and one the team could update themselves.
The approach
I designed a restrained, typographic site where large photography leads and words support. Every project page follows the same rhythm, so the studio can publish new work in an afternoon.
- Full-width photography with careful image loading, so pages stay fast
- A simple editing setup the office manager uses every week
- Project filters by type, location and year
The outcome
Enquiries through the website doubled in the first six months, and the site was shortlisted for a regional design award.
